Introduction
J.T. Binienda is 13 yrs old and lives in Sandwich with his Mom, Dad, and sister Abby. J.T. has gravitated to music his entire young life, and has a diverse music catalog. J.T. was born profoundly deaf. He was so fortunate to have Cochlear Implants at the age of one. These devices have enabled him to hear and have excellent spoken language. J.T. also had a diagnosis at age 4 as having Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Despite having all of these obstacles to overcome from such a young age, J.T. has the biggest personality and excellent social skills. He is known as the “unofficial” Mayor of Sandwich. J.T. Is often spotted at events around town, or dancing to the music for the crowds at sporting events at Sandwich Middle High School!
The significance of the name of the show, Dad and Me in the Morning, is related to a favorite book from JT’s childhood. The story is about a boy that is deaf and wakes his Dad up early in the morning. They walk to the beach to watch the sunrise together and incorporate all of their senses as they explore the outdoors.
